On January 26, 2021, Robert Vincent Dowd, loving husband, father of four, and grandparent of ten, passed away at the age of 78.
Bob was born July 20, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT to William and Agnes (May) Dowd. A long-time resident of Fairfield, Bob married Gail Lonergan in 1965. Together, they raised four children: Kelly, Tracy, Keith, and Christopher. He and wife also opened their family to many foreign exchange students throughout the years, including his daughter from Brazil Aline Scott.
Bob had a long career in transportation logistics, most recently with Cornerstone Systems. He built relationships with customers throughout Connecticut and the northeast. He retired a few years ago to care for his wife who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Bob was known for his deep compassion, generosity, and humor. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including eating out with family and friends, spending time by the pool in the summer, vacationing at Hampton Beach, and watching UConn Women’s Basketball. Nothing brought him more joy than his children and grandchildren, and they remained the focus of his attention and love throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife Gail; his daughter Kelly Campbell of Trumbull, CT and her children Jonathan, Ryan, Monet, and Faith, his daughter Tracy Ganti of North Potomac, MD, her husband Narendra, and their children Nicole and Ainsley; his son Keith Dowd of Clinton, MS, his wife Jamie, and their children Kylie and Carson; and his son Christopher Dowd of Rocky Hill, CT, his wife Adrienne, and their children Harper and Graham. He is also survived by his beloved brother William Dowd of Milford, CT.

A joint memorial service for Bob and Gail will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church ,545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. The family invites you to join them at a reception at the church hall after the service.
