Maryann Westberg (Schretzmann) Fischer

Maryann Westberg Fischer, age 75, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Joseph Patrick Fischer, passed away peacefully Monday, February 15, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Rutherford, NJ the daughter of Anna C. Schretzmann and Andrew Schretzmann, she had been a Fairfield resident for 53 years. She attended the Clara Maass School of Nursing in Belleville, NJ where she earned her RN credential. Maryann was an employee of both Park City and Bridgeport Hospitals. Passionate about women’s healthcare, Maryann worked with Dr. Gordon Jonas and Dr. Edward Luchansky before accepting a position as Nurse Manager with MetLife.  She resided in Fairfield’s beach area, before moving to her cherished home just outside of downtown Fairfield. She cherished the memories created with neighbors and friends, including her beloved caregiver, Cortney. Maryann is predeceased by her husband, Joseph P. Fischer, her mother, Anna C. Schretzmann, and her father, Andrew Schretzmann. Survivors include two children, Melisa Westberg of New Mexico and Kendra D’Andrea of Fairfield; two stepchildren, Susan Hickey of Fairfield and William Fischer and his wife Laura of Punta Gorda, FL; as well as nine beloved grandchildren, Hanna, Daxon, Gavin, Morgan, Javen, Sydney, Charlotte, Hilary, and Annika. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22 at 2pm in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
