Frances C. (Scianna) Zold

Frances Scianna Zold, age 92, of Fairfield, passed Sunday, February 28, 2021. Frances is predeceased by her beloved husband, John Zold, Jr., who passed in 2005 after 58 years of marriage.

Born in Bridgeport on May 5, 1928 to the late Frank and Blanche (DeBaun) Scianna, Frances had resided in Fairfield for over 70 years. She was a secretary for the City of Bridgeport Civil Service immediately after graduating from Warren Harding High School with the class of 1946. She served in many departments from the Airport to the City Attorney’s Office before her retirement in 1977.

In her early years, Frances was active in many sports and was still league bowling in her 90’s. She enjoyed all crafts, reading, and traveling. Always a social person, time spent with family and friends were always her happiest moments.

Frances is survived by two loving children, John E. Zold (Ann), and Jo-Anne Antalik; three cherished grandchildren, Jillane Antalik, Kaitlin Zold, and Daniel Zold; a special niece, Bebe DeNitto (Frank); a special cousin, Frank McKane; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, John, Frances is predeceased by two sisters, Edith Singleton and Jeanette Foley, as well as her brother, Frank Scianna.

Friends and family are invited to a walk-through visitation on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 10am to 12pm at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A service will be held in the funeral home directly following the visitation. Interment will follow at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Road, Fairfield.
