Frances Jewell Obituary
Frances P. Jewell, 83, of Bradenton, FL passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 after a long illness. She was born January 25, 1937 in Bridgeport, CT. She was the daughter of the late J. Lawrence and Dorothy (Perry) Jewell and was raised in Fairfield, CT. Frances attended South Lancaster Academy, and received her BS in Nursing from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA. Frances worked over 34 years as a registered nurse in various VA hospitals. During her nursing career she always showed compassion and love for all of her veteran patients. After retiring in 1994 from the VA hospital in Richmond VA., she moved to Bradenton, FL to enjoy her retirement years.
Frances' faith was a very important part of her life. She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventists Church, and had many dear friends in the congregation in Sarasota FL.
Frances was a very special lady who cherished spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed travel, long car rides, dining out with friends, doing puzzles, and playing board games. She was inseparable from her little Papillon dog Kookie. Everybody in her neighborhood loved to see the two of them on their morning walks.
Her memory will be carried on forever in the hearts of her niece Nancy LaRosa and her husband Joseph of Portland CT, her nephew D. Gibson Smith and Elise Simeone of Acton, MA, and grandniece Jennifer Davis of Portland, CT. She was predeceased by her sister Alice J. Smith of Canton, CT who was her very best friend.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff the Residence at Bay Vue Assisted Living and Inspired Living at Hidden Lakes, both in Bradenton, FL. for the care they provided to Frances for the past several years.
A private graveside service and burial will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield CT. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States, Washington DC. Please visit www.SpearFuneralHome.com
