Esmee B. Grauer

Esmee B. Grauer, age 73, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 51 years of Donald F. Grauer, Sr., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.  A lifelong Fairfield resident, Mrs. Grauer met her husband at Roger Ludlowe High School. She went on to attend Green Mountain College in Vermont.  Mrs. Grauer enjoyed a long and rewarding career in special education for the Fairfield School District. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially the lifelong memories they made together at Fairfield Beach.  She was a proud member for many years of First Church Congregational where she was part of the Women’s Fellowship and a mentor in the youth program.

Survivors in addition to her loving husband Donald include their four children, Bradford C. Grauer and his wife Sandy of Orange, Derrick F. Grauer and his wife Aneta of Wolcott, Donald F. Grauer, Jr. and his wife Joelle of Norwalk, and Brooke G. Dawson and her husband Brandon of Elmira, NY; along with ten beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Holly Wilson of Port Saint Lucie, FL.

She was predeceased by her mother, Esmee Hurlburt and step-father, William Hurlburt.

A visitation will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.  A funeral service will be held for family and close friends Monday, April 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Church Congregational with the Rev.
