Arthur Humby,II Obituary

Arthur C. Humby, II (Rusty), age 67 of Fairfield, beloved husband of Karen Donahue Humby for 45 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, July 14, 2021 following a courageous battle with ALS.  Born in Stamford, the son of the late Arthur and Bette O’Connell Humby, he had been a Fairfield resident for most of his adult life.  Rusty graduated from Stamford Catholic High School and East Coast Aero Tech.  He worked his entire career until his recent retirement as a Crew Chief for Sikorsky Aircraft.  Rusty was an environmentalist who enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf, and listening to classic rock music. He was a member of the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield and an avid NY Yankees and Rangers fan.  In addition to his loving wife Karen, he will be sadly missed by three children, Robin L. Humby of Fairfield, Brian P. Humby and his wife, Julie of Fairfield and Steven M. Humby of Fairfield; two cherished grandchildren, Eagan and Zelda Humby; four siblings, Patricia Nolan and her husband, Tim of Key West, FL, Elizabeth McCabe of Syracuse, NY, Jeannie Kluytenaar and her husband, William of New Haven and Joseph Humby and his wife, Mary of North Branford, a sister-in-law, Kathleen Keeler Donahue of Stamford, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rusty was predeceased by his in-laws, Donald T. Donahue, Sr.  and Mary Lambert Donahue, and his brothers-in-law, Donald T. Donahue, Jr., and Paul Donahue, of Stamford.  The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, and especially Donna Kelly , RN, BSN, for their exceptional care and compassion.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield.  Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may greet the family Monday from 3-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.  If desired, contributions in Rusty’s memory may be made to The Nature Conservancy at Nature.org.  For information or to offer an online condolence please visit www.SpearFuneralHome.com
