Once you request the services of Spear-Miller Funeral Home, we will immediately put our experienced funeral professionals to work for you. A single, dedicated individual will stay in contact with you every step of the way and guide you through the decision-making process. He or she will carefully explain your options, make recommendations at your request, take care of all the small details, and ensure that you and your family’s personal touch is always present.

Our Staff:

A lifelong resident of Fairfield, Dick is a 1986 graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Dick has been associated with the Spear Funeral Home since 1991. Serving as a funeral director for over 15 years, Dick holds membership in the Bridgeport Area Funeral Directors Association and the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association, where he also served on the Executive Board. A lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, he serves as a lector and Lay Council President. Community activities involve: Fairfield Lions, Fairfield Kiwanis, Fairfield Prep Alumni, Fairfield Harbor Commission, Fairfield Ethics Commission, The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and the Gaelic-American Club of Fairfield. He is also a member of the Port 5 Navy Veterans H. Smith Richardson Golf Club, and the Brownson Country Club. In his spare time, Dick enjoys golfing, fishing, running, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Kerry (Boland), have 2 children, Shannon and Sean.

Upon Jon Spear’s retirement from the day-to-day operations, Dick assumed ownership of the business, and feels privileged to continue the caring and compassionate tradition began by Albert W. Spear in 1938.

 

A lifelong resident of Fairfield. Kerry is a licenced Property/Casualty Insurance Agent and worked in that capacity prior to joining her husband, Richard, in their family business. She is a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and has served as Recording Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Gaelic-American Club and as Information Chair for the St. Thomas Aquinas Home School Association. Kerry is also a member of the Brownson Country Club. In her free time she enjoys golfing, reading, walking, gardening and spending time with her family and their two chocolate labs.  
 
A resident of Stratford for over 10 years, Robert is a graduate of the New England Institute with an Associates Degree. Serving as a funeral directory for over 10 years, he holds membership in the Bridgeport Area Funeral Directors Association, and the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association. Robert served in the Air Force and is a veteran of the Gulf War. He also serves as the Financial Officer for the American Legion Post 143. He is a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. In his spare time, Robert enjoys spending time with his young sons and riding his motorcycle. Robert is pleased that his profession allows him to help people in their time of need. Robert and his wife Melinda have 2 children, Dylan and Luke.  
Jane, the newest member of the Spear-Miller Funeral Home family, is a graduate of The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy; Lauralton Hall, and a 1979 graduate of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. She has held her RN degree for 27 years. Her nursing background is extensive and includes experience in all aspects of Critical Care Nursing, Emergency Care, Home Care, Hospice Care, Mentorship and Education, and Nursing Management. Jane is a caregiver at heart and exhibits true passion in her ability to show compassion to others. She lives in Huntington with her husband Daniel, five children, and beloved Labrador retrievers.
